Set the scene.
The parish church of Għasri is dedicated to Corpus Christi. Its foundation stone was laid in 1903, placing this building firmly in the twentieth century.
Here’s the twist.
The designer was Dun Ġużepp Diacono, a priest as well as an architect. His name connects religious service with the practical work of planning a building.
Why it still matters.
Għasri became a parish in December 1921. Notice the sequence: construction began before independent parish status. The building and the institution did not start on the same day.
