Set the scene.
The older churches known as Tas-Samra and Ta’ Nuzzu could no longer meet the growing community’s needs. A new church was planned.
Here’s the twist.
Bishop Gaetano Pace Forno wished it to be dedicated to St Gaetano of Thiene. The new building began to be used in 1875.
Why it still matters.
It became a parish church in 1881. The story starts with people and space: town growth can be read through the size and changing roles of its churches.
