Set the scene.

Mifsud started billiards and snooker at St Philip Band Club in Ħaż-Żebbuġ. A local club provided his first practice table.

Here’s the twist.

He reached the world amateur snooker final in 1976 and won the title in 1985 and 1986. Amateur and professional championships are distinct competitions: the label matters.

Why it still matters.

His career also included international billiards. Two games played with cues and balls demand different scoring skills, so do not assume every cue-sports result belongs to snooker.
