Set the scene.
Built in 1658, this was one of the coastal towers financed by Grand Master Martin de Redin. Its position overlooks the Comino channel.
Here’s the twist.
The tower cost 589 scudi before its wooden fittings. Records list two bronze cannon and a small guard team, rather than an army behind its walls.
Why it still matters.
Its different names preserve local geography and description. Try locating the bays on either side: the position of a watchtower often explains more than its size does.
