Set the scene.
Dun Ġużepp Diacono designed this church while serving as Qala’s parish priest. Construction ran from 1882 to 1889.
Here’s the twist.
The baroque style can trick a quick glance: elaborate design does not automatically mean a building dates from the Knights’ period. This one belongs to British-era Gozo.
Why it still matters.
Qala had become a parish in 1872, before St Joseph’s was completed. The church was consecrated in 1904, adding another date to its development.
