Set the scene.
St Roque’s dedication connects this chapel with devotion against plague. A statue of the saint was later erected opposite during the nineteenth-century epidemic.
Here’s the twist.
In 1980 the Archdiocese ceded the chapel to Din l-Art Ħelwa. It became a museum remembering people from Żebbuġ.
Why it still matters.
Its collections include material about artists, writers and village life. Think of the change as another layer of history: a place of devotion became a home for community memory.
