OKAY, HERE’S THE STORY

Set the scene.

The eighteenth-century Casa del Comun Tesoro housed the Order’s treasury. During British rule, government offices and the post office used the building.

Here’s the twist.

In the 1880s it became the Grand Hotel. Casino Maltese settled here in 1904, after earlier moves between other premises.

Why it still matters.

Read the facade as a changing address book: money, letters, travellers and club members have all belonged to its story.
