This nineteenth-century palace stands on the former site of the Order’s foundry. Land once used for industry became the home of Giuseppe Buttigieg’s wealthy family.
Here’s the twist.
Architect Giuseppe Bonavia drew on Florentine and Venetian palace designs. The resulting façade differs from Valletta’s more familiar Baroque buildings.
Why it still matters.
