Fra Orpheus de Vincenzio built this Mqabba tower in 1726. Its unusual design rose in two tiers.

Severe wartime damage was followed by demolition of most of the structure. A commemorative stone and coat of arms had been removed for safekeeping.
Why it still matters.
J. M. Wismayer’s account records that these pieces later disappeared when their storage building was demolished. Saving fragments is only a first step; their later whereabouts matter too.
