Set the scene.
A larger church was begun in 1924 as Għajnsielem outgrew its older parish building. Its Gothic-Lombard design uses the shape of a Latin cross.
Here’s the twist.
Four architects oversaw the project at different stages. The blessing of the bell tower in June 1979 marked its completion after a long and interrupted building history.
Why it still matters.
The statue of the church’s patron moved here from the old church. Think of that transfer as a bridge: a community could move into a new building while keeping a familiar devotional image.
